Spyderco Serrata Black G10 in Cast 440c

Very interesting design this from NZ maker Stuart Ackerman, made of course, with all the production know-how of Spyderco Inc.

Very solid knife in the hand, not only becuase of the solid G10 slabs, but with its 6mm thick spine of the Cast 440c Steel.

The Knife has a well sculpted handle with Stainless pins and a quick taper to the tip and is full flat with a fine secondary bevel.

440c Steel is a very tough Steel, but the Casting process adds greatly to this so making this knife ideal for bushcraft and Survival type activitys.

Stuart Ackerman is a custom knifemaker from New Zealand with a penchant for practical fixed-blade knives you can count on in a pinch. His Serrata fits that description. Its thick, leaf-shaped blade is made by casting 440C stainless steel-a process that creates dendritic ("tree-like") crystalline structures that gives it exceptional strength, ductility, and cutting ability to the steel. The blade is full-flat-ground for strength and is distally tapered to reduce weight and drag, enhancing edge geometry for exceptional balance. Its contoured handle scales are black G-10, shaped to fill the hand and eliminate pressure spots during extended use. The Serrata has a custom-molded Boltaron sheath with G-Clip™ attachment.
