The HK1 is another nicely designed knife perfect for bushcraft and hunting. The blade is made of 1066 carbon steel, hardened to 57-59 HRC. 1066 carbon steel is a high-quality steel is known for its toughness, edge retention, and chip resistance.

 

One of the advantages of carbon steel is its ability to hold a sharp edge for longer periods of time compared to other types of steel. Additionally, the hardness of the blade is an important factor in determining its performance. A hardness rating of 57-59 HRC is considered to be a good balance between toughness and edge retention.
